Natalia Pais Fornari in Residency
December 2024

Co-Making Matters welcomed Natalia Pais Fornari (@xpaisnatalia) as artist-in-residence. During her time in the space, she further developed her ongoing project Making/Home — a multi-layered, handwritten collection of six years of memories. The work engages deeply with themes of yearning and home, drawing from lived experience and embodied reflection.

Making/Home unfolds across a constellation of mediums: handwritten diary pages, embroidery, analog photography, short fictional texts, and performance. The project gently investigates how we are shaped by the places we inhabit—and how we shape them in return—through an intimate, horizontal, and thoughtful approach. The residency allowed Natalia to continue this personal archive, further articulating the delicate intersections between memory, place, and belonging.

An exhibition of the work’s findings will be hosted at Co-Making Matters in 2025, offering the public a chance to step into this evolving narrative of displacement, making, and attachment.

Natalia Pais Fornari is an interdisciplinary researcher and artist based in Berlin. She holds an MA in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of York (UK). Her practice is deeply rooted in written language, which she weaves together with performance art and analog photography to explore questions of identity, affect, and spatial politics. An avid reader and careful observer, her work creates tender spaces for reflection and reimagining.
